Wedding photographer in Banbury, Oxfordshire, and the Cotswolds

Most weddings I do are in the Cotswolds, London, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and surroundings, however I love travelling and have covered weddings in many parts of the country so don’t hesitate to enquire, wherever you’re from. I speak decent French, Hungarian and Japanese too, if you need someone for a multicultural celebration!

You’ve come to the right place if you’re after a natural, relaxed series of storytelling photos from your day! I try to find interesting or unusual compositions and moments, as they happen naturally. Working with your vibe as a couple, combined with the venue decor and the weather on the day, is what will make your photos special and unique to you. I can offer short coverage / micro weddings, and full days too, so let’s chat about your plans to see if I can help!

Typically, for a full wedding, I deliver between 600 – 900+ images. It’s not an exact science though and depends fully on what was happening on the day, how lively your guests were, and how many there were in general. Usually the more guests you have the more photos as I try to include everyone at least once.

I have full public liability and professional indemnity insurance through PolicyBee/Hiscox (policy no. 14791356). I carry backup equipment with me so that if something breaks or malfunctions, I can continue working with minimal interruption to coverage. I shoot on dual memory cards, too, so if one becomes corrupted I have a full backup on the other card by default so your images aren’t lost.

Absolutely! I’m an ally and the more people I can witness celebrating their love, in whatever shape or form, the more I love my job, so I’m here for it! The way I shoot doesn’t depend on gender in any way – documentary is whatever happens on the day anyway, and for your couple portraits I work with your vibe and how you interact with each other regardless of gender. I also try to avoid gendered or otherwise heteronormative language on my website and in my labelling of workflow and such; however do please call me out if I miss something, as I’m only human and may not get it right 100% of the time as much as my heart is in the right place.

I always love to hear your ideas about the style and poses you want. However, every wedding and location is different, as is the weather in the UK as we know! So, it may not be possible to recreate a breezy sunset photo with mountains in the background if you’re getting married in November on a rainy day in a city centre, for example (I have seen such requests, I’m not making this up!). Within reason I can of course work with you to create photos inspired by what you show me, while in keeping with my own style that you’re hiring me for.

In short, if you want to have more than 6-8 groups, in a formal posed way, I recommend not booking me 🙂 I am very happy to organise a full group shot, and then some with immediate family combos and important individuals in the wedding party, but overall I don’t think these are the best way to capture guests and the joy of the day. I remember my own wedding, standing around for group photos for over half an hour because I thought it was the ‘done thing’, but I was supremely bored, my face hurt from smiling, and I barely ever look at those photos now. I missed out on precious time with my guests who had travelled from all over to be with us, and there are far better casual group photos from later in the day when we all relaxed. I know that in some cultures group shots are more a thing than in others, too – again, perhaps I am not the right photographer for you if this is an important part of the day for you and will require more than a 10-15 minute slot.

Prices start from £200 for short coverage and £1,650 for full days – please send me details of what you’re planning and how long you’d need me for, and I’ll be able to provide a specific quote.

The quote I’ll provide will include travel costs if applicable, yes. If it’s not realistic for me to safely travel back home the same evening (depending on logistics and location), overnight accommodation in a modest hotel or B&B will be added separately, but I’ll mention this during our initial consultation if applicable so you can be sure about what to expect before you book.

My contract says a 6 week turnaround as sometimes my schedule can get very busy, but during quieter periods it’s usually 2-3 weeks.

You are welcome to print your own albums too for your own private use after you receive your digitals. However, I am committed to ensuring that your photos get the beautiful treatment they deserve in a professional album that will stand the test of time and can be kept for decades without fading or the colour looking wrong. And I take all the hassle out of the design and ordering process for you so you can focus on enjoying the post-wedding high! I offer beautiful albums in several sizes, so just ask if you’d like me to sort that out for you.

The suppliers I use for my beautiful coffee table albums are professional labs that work only with photographers; the inks and paper used in them are archival quality and the colours will be exactly as intended when I took the pictures, which is often not true for high street or cheaper online retailers. The flow of your day will be matched to a custom layout I create for you, so that the story unfolds in the best possible rhythm across the album.

A second photographer can be useful for several reasons, but isn’t essential. It really depends on how big your wedding is, and how complicated the logistics are. When a wedding is large enough to have loads going on, and you want to ensure coverage in two locations, or from different angles of important moments, I can certainly book a second photographer, whose images will still be edited by me to ensure consistency across your album. It’s also useful to have a competent second photographer in the unlikely event that anything happens to me on the way to your wedding (although this has never happened and hopefully never will).

” We’re blown away”

Thank you so much for all your hard work! We’re blown away by the album and can’t wait to go through all the photos again and show them to our families. As two reasonably photo-shy people, you made us both so comfortable and at ease (not to mention looking half decent in a photo!). 100% happy with everything – massive THANK YOU!

“We all felt she was amazing!”

We all felt she was amazing! Friendly with all guests and caring for the details she captured beautiful moments on the day, as we asked for minimal staged photos. The photos were of high quality and beautifully retouched. Thank you Barbara!

“Amazing”

We are especially delighted with the off-the-cuff moments that Barbara has an eye for – she is able to capture the unaware subjects and the surroundings to create really artistic photos. Barbara herself was absolutely amazing, so friendly and able to make us feel totally comfortable and at ease in front of the camera (which does not come naturally to two scientists!) and dealt with difficult logistics seamlessly. Our photos were ready so quickly and there are so many fantastic shots we can’t even begin to pick our favourite!

“Rare combination of life meets art “

Barbara is incredible! Not only did she capture all the important moments, she was so discreet that we barely noticed she was around. Her photos have that rare combination of life meets art – they are like canvasses, which capture the moods and the characters, but also beautifully composed, enhancing the moment itself. Thank you so much for your fantastic photos and also for being so flexible to our requirements!
