Documentary storytelling for camera-shy couples

Based in Banbury, Oxfordshire, I’m perfectly located to provide timeless, storytelling wedding photography for couples in the Midlands and the South East, including specialising as a Cotswolds wedding photographer for those marrying in the honey-stone villages of Gloucestershire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.

Whether you’re planning an intimate micro-wedding nearby or a grand marquee wedding celebration, my focus remains the same: a professional, calm presence that allows you to simply enjoy being in the moment – with the odd silly joke thrown in.

  • We are especially delighted with the off-the-cuff moments… Barbara was absolutely amazing, making us feel totally comfortable and at ease in front of the camera (which does not come naturally to two scientists!) and dealt with difficult logistics seamlessly. Our photos were ready so quickly and we can’t begin to pick a favourite!

An unobtrusive approach to your celebration

My approach is rooted in genuine connection; I believe the best images aren’t found in a list of poses, but in the quiet, unscripted moments that make your day uniquely yours.

Even when we do couple’s photos, they’re not really posed! I have lots of tricks up my sleeve to get you those romantic, timeless shots without the cheese. And of course, lots of candid guest interactions will be captured for you to re-live the joy of your special day over and over. They’ll be true to life, sometimes messy and imperfect, as life itself will be in a marriage.

Wedding Client Reviews

  • Barbara was absolutely wonderful! She put everyone at ease with her lovely sense of humour and excellent communication. We felt a rapport from the outset and she clearly understood what we wanted. On the day she made everyone feel at ease and we loved her being a part of our celebration. Our photos are fantastic and we would highly recommend her.

  • Barbara is incredible! Not only did she capture all the important moments, she was so discreet that we barely noticed she was around. Her photos have that rare combination of life meets art—capturing the moods and characters in beautifully composed shots. Thank you for your fantastic photos and for being so flexible to our requirements!

  • Thank you so much for all your hard work! We’re blown away by the album and can’t wait to go through all the photos again and show them to our families. As two reasonably photo-shy people, you made us both so comfortable and at ease (not to mention looking half decent in a photo!). 100% happy with everything – massive THANK YOU!

Frequently Asked Questions

A second photographer can be useful for several reasons, but isn’t essential. It really depends on how big your wedding is, and how complicated the logistics are. When a wedding is large enough to have loads going on, and you want to ensure coverage in two locations, or from different angles of important moments, I can certainly book a second photographer, whose images will still be edited by me to ensure consistency across your album. We can have a chat and see if you might want this option early on!

Absolutely! I’m an ally and the more people I can witness celebrating their love, in whatever shape or form, the more I love my job, so I’m here for it! The way I shoot doesn’t depend on gender in any way – documentary is whatever happens on the day, and for your couple portraits I work with your vibe and how you interact with each other regardless of gender. I also try to avoid gendered or otherwise heteronormative language on my website and in my labelling of workflow and such; however do please call me out if I miss something, I’m always learning as much as my heart is in the right place.

ABSOLUTELY. I’m neurodivergent myself, I get it. Please don’t hesitate to ask for any accommodations such as a certain form of communication, or other adjustments I can make to help you feel more comfortable. You don’t need to disclose your diagnosis or anything, unless you want to; all I ask is that you still provide me with the details I ask for in the lead up to your big day in whatever format works for you, so that I can make sure I get the best possible photos for you 🙂

I have full public liability and professional indemnity insurance through PolicyBee/Hiscox (policy no. 14791356). I carry backup equipment with me so that if something breaks or malfunctions, I can continue working with minimal interruption to coverage. I shoot on dual memory cards, too, so if one becomes corrupted I have a full backup on the other card by default so your images aren’t lost.
