Candid documentary wedding in Oxford St Cross College

Candid, natural documentary wedding party photography in Oxfordshire, cotswolds, Warwickshire, Buckinghamshire, Gloucestershire and beyond

After two postponements due to Covid-19, K+D had a small legal ceremony with only their closest family to make it official, and once restrictions lifted they finally got around to having the party they’d always planned! The venue was St Cross College in Oxford, a postgraduate college of the University of Oxford with a beautiful courtyard where wisteria and roses were in full bloom. The venue offers a mix of old and new style architecture with gothic and traditional style buildings in the heart of Oxford on Pusey Street. There’s a large, airy function room alongside a smaller room adjoining the courtyard, and a marquee to allow guests to be “outside” but sheltered, too. There was a sweets table, a street food buffet, and of course plenty of booze to keep the party going!

We created minimally directed, natural couple portraits in the evening sun, and I captured lots of candid moments too, from heartfelt and emotional speeches to belly laughs and cute babies. As a wedding photographer, I couldn’t have asked for better – a lovely couple, fun guests, welcoming venue staff who made sure I was hydrated and prepared a meal for me, and even a guest asking if I was all right for food and water before I got in my car to leave.

The bride had a silk flower bouquet, which was a great way of keeping her flowers looking fresh for ever as a memento of the day for many years to come. The groom’s and ushers’ green suits were a classy yet fun choice that worked perfectly at this venue.
